CEO: Kaspersky sees daily rise in malicious files number to 400,000

MOSCOW, Dec 4 (PRIME) -- Russian antivirus software maker Kaspersky registers 400,000 malicious files every day as the COVID-19 pandemic rages compared with 350,000 before, CEO Yevgeny Kaspersky said late on Thursday at a conference.

“Cybercrime is massive, the statistics are awful. Every day we collect more than 400,000 new malicious files, various, new, which we have not seen before the remote work mode. Last year, in the pre-COVID period of our life, we collected some 350,000 new files every day,” Kaspersky said.

Cybercrime activity increased by 20–25% or “even 35% because a rising number of people sit in the Internet”, meaning more potential victims for cybercriminals, he said.
